Drain Cooler

The heat generated by boiler may be ued in various components of the ship, but if the remaining heat has not transformed into condensate, it may disable pump to transport fluid, and subsequently, reuse is not possible. Therefore, the remaining steam is needed to be cooled and then reused as feed water.

Drain Cooler enables reuse of dumping steam and steam generated from various auxiliary components as well as saturated water through condensation.

Why is a Drain Cooler Necessary?
Prevents Pump Cavitation & Damage

Excessively hot condensate can flash into steam when pressure drops (e.g., in feed pumps), causing cavitation and pump failure.

The drain cooler subcools the condensate, keeping it in liquid form for smooth pumping.

Recovers Waste Steam & Heat

Dumping steam (e.g., from PRVs, exhaust steam, or auxiliary systems) is condensed instead of being wasted.

Flash steam (generated when high-pressure condensate is released to a lower pressure) is captured and reused.

Maintains Feedwater Quality & Temperature

Condensate is cooled to a safe temperature before entering the feed tank or deaerator, preventing thermal shock.

Preheats incoming makeup water, improving boiler efficiency.
