The principle of outboard cooler system is very simple. Cooling water is forced through a U-Tube bundle, placed in a sea box provided with inlet and outlet grids. Cooling is ensured by natural circulation of the surrounding water.
The system eliminates the complete "raw-water" secondary cooling water circuit on board, which brings a lot of advantages compared with plate heat exchangers or conventional shell and tube coolers.
