What Is A Vertical Motor Thrust Bearing Oil Cooler?
In a vertical motor, the thrust bearing handles the axial load (thrust) from the driven equipment (like a pump). This bearing generates significant heat, which is absorbed by the lubricating oil. An oil cooler is the component that removes this heat from the oil to maintain proper viscosity and a protective oil film.
It use a heat exchanger (often a series of pipes or coils) immersed in the oil sump. Cooling water circulates through these tubes, absorbing heat from the oil.
