High Pressure Feedwater Heater | Utilize Extracted Steam To Boost Thermal Efficiency
Feedwater heaters are essential energy-saving heat exchange equipment for thermal power plants and steam turbine systems, mainly divided into high pressure feedwater heaters and low pressure feedwater heaters. They adopt turbine extracted steam as heat source to preheat boiler feedwater, effectively raising the overall thermal efficiency of the power generation unit and cutting fuel consumption.
Working Principle & Core Function
During the operation of steam turbines, part of steam is extracted at different pressure stages instead of being fully exhausted. This high-temperature extracted steam flows into the feedwater heater and transfers heat to cold boiler feedwater through heat transfer tubes.
After being heated, the feedwater is delivered to the boiler. Since the water temperature is increased in advance, the boiler requires less fuel to reach the rated steam temperature and pressure. This recycling of waste heat from extracted steam greatly optimizes energy utilization and reduces operating costs.
Classification & Application Difference
High Pressure Feedwater Heater
Installed on the high-pressure side of the water supply system. It uses high-pressure extracted steam to heat feedwater to a higher temperature. It bears higher working pressure and temperature, and is a key unit for deep energy efficiency improvement in large power plants.
Low Pressure Feedwater Heater
Arranged on the low-pressure pipeline. It uses low-pressure turbine extraction steam for preliminary heating of feedwater. It features compact structure and wide application for preheating before the deaerator.
