Generator Air Coolers Spare For Hydro Power Plant

Generator air coolers are core heat‑exchange components inside closed‑loop ventilation circuits of hydro‑electric generators. Multiple cooler modules are installed around the generator stator frame. They take away heat from stator windings, rotor poles and iron loss, keep winding temperature within IEC standards and extend generator insulation service life.

VRCOOLER supplies both new‑build units and aftermarket direct‑replacement coolers. Units can be manufactured according to customer drawings or reverse‑engineered from old‑unit measurements. No major generator modification is required for replacement projects.

Working Principle

1. Generator built‑in fans circulate hot internal air across fin‑tube bundles.

2. Heat transfers from hot generator air to cooling water flowing inside tubes.

3. Cooled air flows back into generator enclosure for closed recirculation.

4. Heat is carried out by plant technical cooling‑water circuit.

Key Features

- Closed air circulation: blocks dust and moisture entering generator interior.

- Anti‑vibration structure for continuous long‑time hydro‑plant operation.

- Full hydrostatic pressure leak test, eliminate risk of water leakage into generator air chamber.

- Optimized low air‑side & water‑side pressure drop.

- Custom cooling capacity, overall dimensions, flange positions to match original equipment.

- Fit vertical & horizontal hydro generators across wide MVA output range.

- Suitable for new construction, retrofit and spare‑part replacement projects.

Typical Applications

- Run‑of‑river hydropower plants

- Reservoir hydropower stations

- Pumped‑storage power plants

- Medium‑large hydro‑generator sets
