What is Marine Box Cooler and What is its Main Function?

Marine Box Cooler is a kind of marine cooling equipment, usually installed in the cooling box (cooling compartment) of the ship's hull, which is used to cool the ship's main engine, auxiliary engine and other equipment in the circulating cooling water system. Its main function is to reduce the heat generated by the ship's engines and other equipment through heat exchange with seawater to ensure that they operate within the normal temperature range.

The Box Cooler works on a relatively simple principle: hot water from a ship's engines or auxiliary equipment flows through the cooler's pipework, and seawater passes outside the cooler to absorb this heat. As the vessel is cooled directly using seawater, the complexity of pumps and additional pipework is eliminated and the size and weight of the system is reduced.

Advantages of the Marine Box Cooler over conventional marine cooling systems include:
Compact design saves space on the vessel.
System simplicity and ease of maintenance.
The ability to reduce potential problems caused by pump or external cooling water system failures.
It is widely used in all types of vessels, especially in scenarios where equipment reliability is critical, such as offshore platforms, ferries, cargo ships and other marine workboats.
