Straight Tube Shell & Tube Type Heat Exchanger For Lube Oil Cooling Down ( Steam Turbine Lubrication Oil) / Temperature Control
Shell and tube heat exchangers are a common type of equipment used for lubricating oil cooling. In the marine or industrial field, machines and equipment usually need lubricating oil to reduce friction and wear and to protect machine parts. The lubricating oil is subjected to heat during prolonged operation and therefore needs to be cooled to maintain its performance.
Shell and tube heat exchangers work by flowing the lubricating oil through internal tubes (tube bundles) and a cooling medium (usually water) through the shell, thus cooling the lubricating oil by heat transfer through the tube walls. The cooling medium can be seawater, fresh water or other fluids, depending on the specific application requirements.
The structural design of this heat exchanger allows for efficient heat exchange between the lubricating oil and the cooling medium, while the shell-and-tube design makes cleaning and maintenance relatively easy. For this reason, shell and tube heat exchangers are often used for lubricant cooling and heat recovery in marine and industrial equipment.
