Remote Radiator System Used On A Diesel Generator
A remote radiator system (also called remote dry cooler / off-engine cooling system) is an independent air-cooled heat rejection unit for diesel generators. It separates the cooling package from the engine, widely used when factory-mounted radiators cannot meet layout, temperature, noise or maintenance requirements.
Working Principle
Hot coolant absorbing heat from diesel engine jacket, cylinder head and lube oil cooler flows out.
Circulation pumps deliver hot fluid to the remote radiator coil.
Axial fans blow ambient air across finned tubes to take away heat (sensible heat exchange only, no water spray).
Cooled fluid flows back to the engine to complete the closed loop.
Thermostatic bypass works at low load/low ambient: part of coolant bypasses the radiator to keep engine operating temperature stable.

Circuit Types
Single Circuit (Most common for regular diesel gensets)
Cools engine jacket water + lube oil together
Temperature range: 75 ~ 90°C
Applicable: General industrial, standby diesel generators (50kVA ~ 2000kVA)
Dual HT & LT Circuit (For high-power turbocharged diesel gensets)
HT Loop: Engine jacket water, 82 ~ 92°C
LT Loop: Charge air aftercooler + lube oil, 55 ~ 70°C
Two independent coils inside one radiator frame
Applicable: Large power, containerized, continuous-operation diesel units
