Oil Cooler For A Wartsila W9L26 Engine | OEM Replacement Lube Oil Cooler
This shell-type lube oil cooler is a direct-fit replacement heat exchanger exclusively engineered for the Wärtsilä W9L26 4-stroke marine main/auxiliary engine. It is a core component integrated into the engine's low-temperature (LT) cooling circuit, tasked with continuously cooling high-temperature lubricating oil generated during full-load engine operation. It stabilizes lube oil viscosity, protects crankshaft bearings and moving parts, and guarantees reliable long-term navigation of cargo ships, tankers, bulk carriers and offshore vessels.
The Wärtsilä W9L26 adopts a split dual cooling water system: low-temperature LT fresh water is designated for lubricating oil cooling, and the shell oil cooler is installed in series within the lubrication module alongside thermostatic valves and automatic oil filters.
1. Hot lubricating oil flowing out of the engine main bearings enters the shell side of the cooler;
2. Circulating low-temperature fresh cooling water passes through internal heat transfer tubes;
3. Heat transfers from lubricant to cooling water, lowering oil temperature to the factory-specified operating range;
4. Cooled lubricating oil circulates back to the engine to form a stable protective oil film on all friction surfaces.
Without effective cooling, lube oil will thin, oxidize and produce sludge, leading to bearing overheating, abnormal wear and emergency engine shutdown.
