How To Choose The Material Of Seawater Heat Exchanger?

How to choose the material of seawater heat exchanger?

The seawater heat exchanger is generally made of titanium alloy, 254SMO stainless steel and copper and copper alloys have slightly poor corrosion resistance, and can also be used when the chloride ion concentration is small.

1. Seawater contains a large amount of chloride ions, most stainless steel materials cannot be used, and carbon steel is seriously corroded. Generally, titanium alloys are used as the material of seawater heat exchangers.

2. Titanium plate is the best material for seawater heat exchanger, but the price is higher. There are also 254SMO stainless steels. At slightly higher temperatures, 254SMO also has high crevice corrosion resistance in seawater.

3. Copper and copper alloy materials can also be used in seawater heat exchangers, but they are currently only used in marine aquaculture.

4. When the chloride ion concentration is small, it is better to use aluminum brass as the material of the seawater heat exchanger.

5. The heat exchanger is a device that transfers part of the heat of the hot fluid to the cold fluid, also known as a heat exchanger. Heat exchangers play an important role in chemical, petroleum, power, food and many other industrial productions. In chemical production, heat exchangers can be used as heaters, coolers, condensers, evaporators and reboilers, etc., and are widely used.
