Guide Bearing Cooling Coils
Guide Bearing Cooling Coils
Function: When the guide bearing of the hydro generator is in operation, the mechanical unbalance force of the rotor, the unilateral magnetic tension caused by eccentricity and the friction between various parts will lead to the increase of bearing temperature. The main function of guide bearing cooling coil is to cool the lubricating oil in the guide bearing, take away the heat generated by friction, etc. to prevent the bearing from overheating and ensure the normal operation and service life of the bearing.
Working Principle: Generally speaking, the guide bearing adopts block tile structure, and the shaft tile is immersed in oil. When the unit is running, the shaft collar drives the oil to rotate, forming dynamic pressure under the action of centrifugal force, so that the oil enters the lower oil hole of the collar, part of the oil enters the gap between the tiles and the tiles and the collar, and the hot oil coming out from the tile side and the upper part of the tiles flows outward, turns to the hollow of the bearing body downward through the top tiles' bolt holes, and then flows inward through the cooling coils to flow inward, and then flows upward through the shaft collar's oil hole, and so on, to achieve the lubrication and cooling purpose.
Structural characteristics: the cooling coil is usually made of copper tube or other materials with good thermal conductivity, and can be arranged in different forms according to the structure of the bearing and space requirements, such as coiled into a multi-layer ring. Some cooling coils will also be set up baffle plate and other structures, in order to lead the heat conduction oil all through the cooling coil, improve the cooling efficiency.
