Generator Hydrogen Cooler (GHC) is a special type of cooling equipment for large, high-power generators. This cooler uses hydrogen as the cooling medium to control the temperature of the generator and ensure its stable and reliable operation under high temperature and high pressure operating conditions.

 

The working principle of generator hydrogen cooler is as follows:

Cooling medium: Hydrogen is a gas with high thermal conductivity, which has better thermal conductivity compared with air or water. Therefore, hydrogen can carry away the heat generated by the generator more efficiently.

Cooling process: Inside the generator, the hydrogen cooler is closely connected to key components, such as the stator coil and rotor. When the generator is in operation, a large amount of heat is generated as a result of the electric current passing through the coils and other electrical components. These components come into contact with hydrogen through the hydrogen cooler and transfer the heat to the hydrogen.

Hydrogen circulation: The hydrogen gas in the cooler continuously absorbs heat from inside the generator by circulating through it and then carries the heat with it to the cooler. In the cooler, the hydrogen gas comes into contact with cooling surfaces, transfers heat to its surroundings, cools itself, and then returns again to the inside of the generator. This cyclic process is repeated over and over again, ensuring that the temperature of the generator remains within safe limits.

The design and use of hydrogen coolers for generators has the following main advantages:

Efficient heat dissipation: Hydrogen as a cooling medium has a high thermal conductivity, which can efficiently take away a large amount of heat generated by the generator, thus keeping the temperature of the generator within a safe range.

Reduced energy consumption: Due to the low flow resistance of hydrogen, the use of hydrogen coolers reduces energy consumption and friction of generator components compared to other cooling media.

Suitable for high pressures and high temperatures: Hydrogen coolers are suitable for large, high-power generators, especially in special application scenarios, such as nuclear power plants, where extremely high reliability and heat dissipation performance are required.
