Gas Turbine Generator Air-Water Cooler Heat Exchanger
Gas Turbine Generator Air-Water Cooler
The generator air-water cooler is a compact heat exchanger. It consists of multiple sets of heat exchange tubes with fins, a water chamber, tube sheets, side beams, and other components. The fins are expanded onto the heat exchange tubes to achieve full contact and efficient heat transfer. Both ends of the heat exchange tubes are sealed to the tube sheets using a strength-expansion method. The tube sheets are sealed to the water chamber using gaskets and threaded connections.
Structural Components: Primarily consists of multiple sets of heat exchange tubes and fins, water chambers, tube sheets, side beams, and other components. The heat exchange tubes are the core components for heat transfer. Fins are mounted on the outer surface of the tubes to increase the contact area between air and the tubes, enhancing heat exchange efficiency. Tube sheets secure the heat exchange tubes, while water chambers serve as the inlet and outlet passages for cooling water. Side beams provide support and secure the entire cooler assembly.

Working Principle: Cooling medium enters the heat exchange tubes through the inlet of the water chamber. After one or more passes, it exits through the outlet and returns to the circulating water system. The refrigerant transfers its coldness through the heat exchange tubes and the fins wrapped around them, exchanging heat with the superheated gas inside the generator. This process lowers the temperature of the air within the generator, maintaining the internal gas temperature below the set value and ensuring the equipment operates normally within a specified temperature range. Internal generator gases are typically guided by a fan system to enhance cooling efficiency.
Product Features: Heat exchange tubes and tube sheets can be customized in carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, or titanium alloy to meet corrosion resistance and high-temperature requirements based on operating conditions and media. The water chamber is removable for easy cleaning of heat exchange tubes, effectively maintaining the cooler's heat transfer efficiency. Additionally, air-water coolers offer various installation configurations-horizontal, vertical, upward-facing, or downward-facing-enabling optimized design based on generator structure and available installation space.
