Egr Cooler in A Diesel Generator

An EGR cooler is a critical water-cooled heat exchanger for modern Tier 3 / Tier 4 / Euro VI diesel generators, designed to cut NOₓ exhaust emissions to meet global environmental regulations.

Drastically reduce NOₓ formation
Hot exhaust gas (600–780°C) contains inert CO₂ & water vapor. Recirculating this gas dilutes oxygen inside cylinders and lowers peak combustion temperature-the root cause of nitrogen oxide production.
If uncooled hot exhaust returns to intake, it raises overall charge temperature and weakens the NOₓ reduction effect. The EGR cooler drops exhaust gas to 100–150°C before recirculation for maximum efficiency.
Protect engine performance & fuel economy
Cooler recirculated gas is denser, improves volumetric efficiency, avoids intake charge overheating, and prevents power loss or higher fuel consumption.

We produce 1:1 OEM replacement EGR coolers for all mainstream diesel generator brands (Cummins, MTU, Perkins, MAN, Weichai):
- Custom cooling capacity matched to genset power (50kW–3MW)
- Compact vertical/horizontal layout tailored to limited engine room space
- Full factory pressure & leakage test reports for project acceptance

Working Flow in Diesel Genset

1. A small portion of hot exhaust gas is extracted from the exhaust manifold.
2. Hot gas flows through the EGR cooler's internal tube channels.
3. Engine jacket coolant (ethylene glycol) circulates in separate surrounding passages, absorbing exhaust heat via heat transfer.
4. Cooled low-temp exhaust passes through the EGR valve (ECU-controlled flow adjustment).
5. Mixed with fresh turbo intake air, enters cylinders for secondary combustion.
6. Waste heat absorbed by coolant flows back to the main radiator / remote air cooler for final heat rejection.
