This is the greatest advantage of smooth tubes. If lubricating oil contains impurities, sludge, or has high viscosity, the smooth tube walls are less prone to fouling and blockage, making them very easy to clean and maintain.

For the cooling water side, if the water is hard or contains impurities, the inner walls of smooth tubes are also easier to clean mechanically (e.g., with brushes or high-pressure water jets) compared to finned tubes.

Robust Structure with Superior Pressure Resistance:

Lacking weak components like fins, plain tubes possess higher overall mechanical strength and can withstand greater pressures.

Lower Manufacturing Costs:

Processing smooth tubes is simpler than manufacturing finned or threaded tubes, typically resulting in lower costs.

Suitable for High-Viscosity Fluids:

High-viscosity oils encounter relatively less resistance flowing over plain tube surfaces, whereas fins significantly increase flow resistance.
