For small to medium steam turbine generators ≤60 MW, the standard cooling solution is closed-loop air coolers (air-cooled heat exchangers) - usually installed inside the generator housing or as an external module.

Core Function
The air cooler:
Absorbs heat from the stator winding, rotor, and iron core via internal circulating air
Transfers heat to cooling water or ambient air
Maintains generator winding temperature within safe limits (typically ≤120°C)
