Shell Tube Type Gas Cooler

Shell Tube Type Gas Cooler

Comprises a series of tubes enclosed within a larger shell. Gas flows through the tubes while a cooling medium (liquid or gas) flows outside the tubes in the shell.
Typically made from corrosion-resistant materials to withstand harsh conditions, such as stainless steel or carbon steel.

Operation
Gas Inlet: Hot gas enters the tubes, transferring heat to the cooler.
Cooling Medium: A cooling fluid, often water or another liquid, circulates in the shell, absorbing heat from the gas.
Heat Exchange: As the hot gas passes through the tubes, heat is exchanged with the cooling medium, lowering the gas temperature.
Outlet: The cooled gas exits the tubes, while the warmed cooling medium is either recirculated or discharged.

Benefits
High Efficiency: Provides effective heat exchange due to the large surface area of the tubes.
Robust Design: Suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature applications.
Easy Maintenance: Tubes can be cleaned and maintained easily, enhancing longevity.

Applications
Natural Gas Processing: Used to cool gas after compression or before further processing.
Chemical Plants: Employed in various chemical reactions where temperature control is critical.
Power Generation: Utilized in gas turbines to cool exhaust gases.
