Remote Radiator For Caterpillar Gas Genset G3516A

A remote radiator (dry cooler) for the Cat G3516A is an off-engine, air-cooled heat exchanger that handles the engine's jacket water (HT) and aftercooler (LT) heat rejection, used when the standard engine-mounted radiator is impractical (indoor installations, high ambient, noise constraints).

G3516A Engine Basics
Model: Caterpillar G3516A (16-cylinder, turbocharged gas engine)
Rated power: 1085 ekW (1550 bhp) continuous
Fuel: Natural gas, biogas, coal gas
Cooling circuit: HT (jacket water) + LT (aftercooler) dual circuit
Max ambient: 45°C (113°F) at sea level

Remote Radiator Core Specification
Total heat rejection: 1.4–1.8 MW (matches G3516A's ~1.6 MW waste heat)
Heat load split:
HT (Jacket water): ~900–1000 kW (93°C in / 87°C out)
LT (Aftercooler): ~500–600 kW (40°C in / 67°C out)
Core type: Copper tube-aluminum fin (Cu/Al) or all-aluminum, multi-row, high-density fin
Fans: 4–6 pcs axial fans, VFD control (energy saving, noise reduction)
Design pressure: 1.0–1.6 MPa (engine circuit rated)
Connections: DN200–DN250 flanged (HT/LT separate circuits)

System Configuration
Components: Remote radiator unit → circulation pumps (HT/LT) → insulated piping → engine jacket/aftercooler → expansion tank → bypass valve (temperature control)
Control: VFD fans + thermostatic bypass; maintains HT outlet at 87–90°C, LT outlet at 65–70°C
Material: Carbon steel frame (hot-dip galvanized), Cu/Al core, stainless steel fasteners

Applications
Indoor CHP plants (hospital, hotel, factory)
High ambient regions (desert, tropical)
Noise-sensitive areas (residential, urban)
Containerized genset packages
Biogas/landfill gas power plants
