Hydrogen Coolers for Generators

Generator hydrogen cooler is a kind of equipment used to cool the generator, which uses hydrogen as the cooling medium to take away the heat generated inside the generator through circulating flow, so as to ensure the normal operation of the generator.

Its working principle is: the hydrogen inside the generator is driven by the fans at both ends of the generator to make forced circulation flow inside the generator in a closed cycle, so that the core and rotor windings of the generator are cooled. In the meantime, hydrogen flows through the four hydrogen coolers located at the corners of the generator, and the hydrogen cooled by the hydrogen coolers re-enters the core and rotor windings for repeated cycles.

In the use of generator hydrogen cooler, need to pay attention to the following points:
Hydrogen purity: The hydrogen purity in the generator must be not less than 96%, and the oxygen content is not more than 2%.
Replacement gas: when replacing the gas, an inert gas should be used for transition, or vacuum replacement should be used to avoid direct contact and mixing of hydrogen and oxygen to prevent explosion.
Cooler maintenance: Regularly check and maintain the hydrogen cooler to ensure its normal operation, such as cleaning the cooler and checking for hydrogen leakage.
Safety measures: During operation and maintenance, relevant safety regulations should be strictly observed and necessary safety measures should be taken, such as preventing fire, explosion and other accidents.
