Electric Jacket Heater Suitable For A 2 Stroke Main Engine
It is a flow‑through electric immersion heater, installed on the jacket cooling fresh water loop (parallel / branch circuit with circulating pump).
Shore‑supply / shipboard 3‑phase power feeds tubular heating elements inside pressure shell.
Circulated jacket fresh water flows across heated elements, absorbs heat.
Thermostat / PT100 sensor maintains standby temperature 50‑60 °C; pre‑start target ≥ 50 °C, max limit 80 °C Everllence.
Over‑temperature cut‑off & pressure relief fitted as safety interlock; output signal to engine alarm system.
Must run with forced water circulation; static immersion without flow will burn out heating elements.
System Installation Notes
Install together with a small circulation pump, cannot rely on main jacket water pump during stand‑still.
Mount on the deaeration tank circuit or JCW bypass loop; never install directly on engine main pipe.
Interlock logic: heater power cuts off if circulation pump trips or flow loss occurs.
Keep temperature at 50‑60 °C during stand‑by; do not continuously exceed 65 °C in idle conditionEverllence.
Back‑up option: Many vessels keep steam pre‑heater as primary, electric heater as reserve.

Common Failure Points
Scale build‑up on Incoloy elements → poor heat transfer, high surface temperature, element burnout.
Circulation pump failure without flow interlock → heater damage.
PT100 sensor drift → over‑heating risk.
Flange gasket leakage under thermal cycling.
